ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Sayako.（日本語）

I was born and brought up in Kyoto, a city in Japan where the old and the new are mixed together.

Kyoto is a city where a modern side built by people living in the present, its history created by illustrious men, and the illusions made by tourists, coexist and mingle. In other words, it is a city that is half-immersed in dreams.

My grandparents ran a now-defunct Yuzen dyeing factory in this city and I grew up watching traditional Yuzen dyeing patterns.

I was raised like this, consequently, perhaps it was inevitable that I started to indulge in drawing and fantasy world.

When I was a youth, I fell in love with high fantasy novels such as "The Twelve Kingdoms" and "Moribito series", and became fascinated by the illustrations that sat alongside the novels for help to convey the fantasy world in detail.

I have always wanted to create illustrations that show the life of fictional people. As you can see from my works, I am mostly skilled to draw natural objects such as flowers and plants, as well as people (especially women).
